Her Pasta Is Almost Ready To Bake- But Not Until She Adds This Interesting Ingredient…Yum!

The last thing anyone wants to do when they get home from work is spend all night in the kitchen trying to prepare the perfect meal. There are tons of simple, quick, affordable, and delicious meals available at your fingertips. This Tuna Pasta Bake is an example of a fast and easy meal the whole family will enjoy!

Start with the following ingredients:

1 lb of pasta
2 cans tuna
1 cup of pasta (you can use Penne or your favorite brand)
3 – 8 oz cans of chopped tomatoes
1/3 cup of cheese (Parmesan or mozzarella)
1 medium onion
2 garlic cloves
2 tablespoons of olive oil
Pinch of dried chili flavor (Can forgo if you are sensitive to spices)
Handful of fresh basil (can substitute with dried oregano or basil)

Here’s what to do.

First, preheat oven to 400 degrees. Then boil water with salt for pasta. You can move on to the rest of your meal prep while you are waiting for your water to boil. Finely chop the onion and garlic cloves. Place the garlic and cloves in a large skillet with olive oil. The skillet should be large enough to hold all of the ingredients listed. Sprinkle a pinch of dried chili peppers in the garlic and onion mixture to add spice. Sautee the garlic, onions, and pepper over medium to high heat until the garlic and onions are soft.

Add the chopped tomatoes and a handful of fresh basil leaves to the garlic, onion, and chili pepper mixture. Bring the sauce to a boil and allow sauce to simmer for 20 minutes. Once the sauce has simmered for about 20 minutes, add the cans of tuna along with a small pinch of salt and a generous pinch of black pepper. Stir the mixture until evenly dispersed. Add the pasta to the boiling water. You can use Penne or any of your favorite pastas. You don’t cook the pasta all the way because it will go in the sauce and then in the oven. After about 8 minutes, remove the pasta and drain it. Stir drained pasta into the sauce and stir until pasta if fully coated.

Place the sauce, pasta, and tuna mixture in an oven safe dish. Take 1/3 cup of cheese and spread it on top of the dish. Add baby leaves of basil, pinch of pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil on top of the pasta dish. Place in the oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Now you are on your way to enjoying a wonderfully, delicious meal!
